Two full days of business, branding, self-promotion and studio management, along with techniques, a panel discussion, networking and shooting - we're packing it all in to create an amazing workshop experience. As if that wasn't enough, special guest speaker Kathryn Storke Grady of Snippet + Ink will share her insights on blog publishing, and Angela of Richard Photo Lab will present a mini business seminar.
Another year... Another WPPI! I'm looking forward to the chaos and excitement that is 16,000 wedding photographers in one Vegas hotel. I'll be there supporting Richard Photo Lab and Cypress Fine Albums.
I'll be at the RPL booth on Tuesday, February 21st from 11am - 1pm, and at the Cypress Booth from 1:30-3pm. Come on by and say hello!
I was really honored (and might I mention, insanely nervous - can you tell? :) ) to be interviewed by DWF when I was in NYC speaking at WPPI/PDN PhotoPlus. It was fun to share my love for film with the DWF crowd.
PS - I've actually been shooting film since I was sixteen years old - so for nineteen years... Eleven of those have been as a wedding photographer.
Another year passes... and what a year it was - my eleventh season of weddings. As 2012 approaches I look back on 2011 and am so grateful for another spectacular slew of beautiful weddings. I am so lucky to do what I do; I am so privileged to be allowed into my clients' lives on this most important day, to create art about love. And this year has brought a deeper meaning to what I do: now, as a mother, I am much more attuned to what it is to have a daughter walk down the aisle, to be the parent looking adoringly at their child as they partake in one of life's great rituals... I have shed a few tears this past year, imagining myself in those shoes in the years to come...
A huge thank you to my AMAZING 2011 couples - it was such an honor to be a part of your celebrations. And to all my industry colleagues - I am continually inspired (and often as giddy as a kid in a candy store) by the ever-evolving event design that you create.
I had a great time speaking at PDN PhotoPlus/WPPI NYC, which took place in the enormous Javits Center in Manhattan the last week of October. It was such an honor to get to spend two hours talking to a talented bunch of photographers. And it's always fun to go back to my hometown.
A huge thank you to my main sponsor, Fujifilm, as well as to sponsors Richard Photo Lab and Cypress Fine Albums for bringing me out to New York. I had so much fun hanging out with the RPL and Cypress gang, and loved running into friends like Karen Wise and Elizabeth Messina.
Another highlight of the week was being interviewed live on streaming video (!!) by one of the most amazing and influential women in contemporary photography: Jacqueline Tobin, Executive Editor of Rangefinder, and the past editor of PDN. I also did a taped video interview for DWF; I'll be sure to post that link when it's up.
Lastly, a big thank you to the fantastic Sarah Peet who shot the first four photos below. (Last one from my camera phone - it was so cool to see my image on the Fujifilm booth!)
